Reacting to the latest UN Security Council report, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, Zabiullah Mujahid, stated that the current government only ensures the security of aid institutions and does not interfere in the internal affairs of these entities.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan does not interfere in the affairs of any institution to disrupt its work. We and our military are obliged to ensure their security, Mujahid stated.
Our demand to the aid agencies of the international community, especially the United Nations, is not to consider political issues in humanitarian and development aid, said Abdul Latif Nazari, deputy of the Ministry of Economy.
The Security Council report mentioned that Taliban policies and practices complicate efforts to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan; and detailed that 56 programs were temporarily suspended last July due to access incidents, including interference with the implementation of humanitarian activities, restriction of movement, and violence against personnel and facilities.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Afghanistan said that the reason for the reduction in aid to Afghanistan was a lack of funds and emphasized that they received only 25 percent of the budget they requested this year.
