Polish authorities against lifting embargo on Ukraine’s grains

Warsaw, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) The advisor to the President and former Minister of Agriculture of Poland, Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, refused to lift the embargo on the supplies of Ukrainian grains to the European Union (EU).

Ukrainian grains will not be delivered to Poland after September 15, despite the desire of global corporations to enter the European market firmly with food from Kiev, he told the local radio station RMF 24.

This is a clear position by the Prime Minister and the Government, Ardanowski said in response to a question on the consequences of lifting the embargo imposed by the European Commission on grain supplies to the EU after September 15.

I cannot imagine that what happened a year ago will happen again; for example, a huge volume of grain from Ukraine, which destabilized our market considerably, the advisor said.

According to him, Ukraine has always wanted to enter the European market with its products, but this process has been slowed down and regulated by duties and restrictions.

Ministers decide how many products can be let in so as not to harm agriculture in the EU countries, and now they take advantage of Europe’s current opening to Ukraine, but this will lead to the decline of the sector, he warned.

Ukraine should understand that its grain should go to the needy regions of the world, and not to the EU and, above all, not to the countries bordering it, he emphasized.
