The MINREX statement explained that the Ministry of the Interior detected and is working on neutralizing and dismantling a human trafficking network that operates from Russia to incorporate Cuban citizens living there, and even some from Cuba, into the military forces that are participating in war operations in Ukraine.
The text emphasizes that attempts of this nature have been neutralized and criminal proceedings have been initiated against persons involved in such activities.
It also rejects the actions of Cuba’s enemies who promote distorted information to tarnish the country’s image and present it as an accomplice in these actions.
“Cuba has taken a firm and clear historic stance against mercenarism and plays an active role in the United Nations in condemning that practice, being the author of several of the initiatives approved in that forum,” the statement stresses, adding that Cuba is not part of the war in Ukraine.
The communiqué repeats that Cuba is acting and will act vigorously against whoever participates in any human trafficking for recruitment or mercenarism purposes from the national territory so that Cuban citizens can use weapons against any country.
