In his morning press conference, the President explained that the Mayan Train has already been formally handed over to the Ministry of Defense (Sedena) and that its chief, General Luis Cresencio Sandoval, appointed Lozano Águila, with which the government agreed.
He said that, through a decree, the delivery of the company Tren Maya, which was in charge of the Fondo Nacional de Fomento al Turismo (Fonatur) and in charge of the direction of this work, was formalized to the Sedena, so that it could be taken care of and “well administered”.
He explained that this work, like others, is financed with public investment, it is not debt, it is not those public-private partnership mechanisms, it is a public budget, the people’s money that is being invested.
These are works of the nation, works of the people, so we want to take care of them, so that the corrupt neo-liberals do not manage that which was done with the money of all Mexicans by transferring it to private individuals.
He assured that much progress has been made, we are just a short time away from inaugurating the train, it will be completed in December and we already want to carry out the transition so that the company of the Ministry of Defense can resume all the projects.
Last weekend, the President headed a supervisory tour from Campeche to Cancun, aboard the standard train called Speedy Jaguar.
