According to diplomatic sources, the official Cuban delegation was headed by the President of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba Dr. Luis Velazquez Perez; the Director of the Institute of Neurosciences Dr. Mitchell Valdes, as well as the Director of China-Cuba Joint Laboratory of Neurotechnology in Chengdu Dr. Pedro Valdes.
The Cuban experts visited the Institute of Materia Medica of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shanghai Mental Health Center, where they met with Director Zhao Min.
In a videoconference, Cuban Prof. Pedro Valdés was granted the Erwin Roy John Award during the Basic and Clinical Imaging Congress, held in Istanbul, Turkey.
In fact, institutions from both countries signed an agreement in April to open this laboratory for neurotechnology and bioengineering resarch.
