Terrorist ambush kills 16 Syrian soldiers

Damascus, Sep 2 (Prensa Latina) At least 16 uniformed members of the Syrian Arab Army were killed and five others were wounded in a terrorist attack in the northwest of the country, media reported here. The sources added that suicide radicals from the so-called Levant Liberation Board, registered on the international terrorism list, attacked the military near the site of Wadi Rabiya in the extreme northeast of Latakia province, located some 350 kilometers northwest of Damascus, the capital.

Earlier, the extremists launched an offensive from the town of Al-Saraf which was repelled by the soldiers who suffered two casualties while managing to eliminate several attackers, including foreign mercenaries.

In recent months, the extremist gangs increased their raids from Idlib against military positions and residential areas, located under government control, prompting the army to respond to these actions, with the support of the Russian aviation.
