It is an opportunity for debate and reflection, not only on the coup d’état that took place here half a century ago, but also in other countries of the region such as Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and more recently in Venezuela, Honduras and Bolivia.
The summit will last until September 9th in the Recoleta district and includes four events, among them, the International Book Fair, with the participation of US essayist Miki Kendal, Argentine political scientist Atilio Borón and Spanish historian Mario Amorós.
Also, Hernán Rivera Letelier and Gabriel Salazar, National Literature and History Prize winners, respectively, Argentine sociologist Mario Santucho and Belarusian writer and researcher Evgeny Morozov are among the long list of participants.
The academic congress entitled Validity and Lessons of the Popular Unity Project, the ALBA Movement Regional Summit and an international political seminar are also on the program.
