Selection of Daniel Díaz’s films at Cinematheque of Cuba

Havana, Sep 1 (Prensa Latina) The Havana-based Cinematheque of Cuba will pay tribute to Cuban filmmaker Daniel Díaz Torres (1948-2013) with the exhibition of a cycle of his films, including Jibaro (Wild Dogs) and La Película de Ana (Ana's Film), according to the Cubarte website.

Díaz Torres, who was also a film critic and professor, forged a renowned work in the seventh art in Cuba, and the tribute is being held because of his 10th death anniversary.

In the promotional note, Cuban film specialist Daymar Valdés emphasizes that in each of the titles of the cycle, “we find the seal of a filmmaker trained in documentaries, with a social outlook, a critical analysis of his context, and the witty tone of humor that has always distinguished him.”

Presenting Díaz Torres without revealing his charisma, witty conversations, and vocation as a teacher would be excluding an essential nuance of personality, Valdés stressed, quoted by Cubarte.

The selected films include Alicia en el Pueblo de Maravillas ((Alice in Wonder Town, 1991), Quiéreme y verás (Love Me and You Will See, 1995), Kleines Tropicana (Little Tropicana, 1997) and Camino al Edén (Road to Eden, 2006), among other movies.
