During a meeting held at the Executive headquarters, the two parties discussed the measures taken to facilitate joint action to overcome difficulties, improve the role of the businesses sector and increasing bilateral trade.
They also addressed the mechanisms that allow following up on the implementation of the agreements and understandings reached and the ways to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields so as to achieve the common interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.
The head of government explained the difficulties facing the Syrian economy as a result of the unfair blockade and occupation of oil fields and agricultural resources by US forces.
“We appreciate and thank the Iranian government and people for their support to Syria in various fields,” Arnous said.
The head of Iran’s diplomacy highlighted the willingness to expand the areas of cooperation in a long term, particularly in the fields of energy, the use of national currencies in commercial transactions and the exchange of basic products. “Iran will continue to support Syria in facing the economic siege it is suffering,” he said.
Damascus and Tehran have maintained a strategic alliance since the triumph of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, strengthened by Iranian support against terrorism during the ongoing war that Syria has been undertaking since 2011.
