Coming from the Syrian capital, Damascus, the head of Iranian diplomacy kicked off a working agenda that will include meetings with senior Lebanese officials to discuss issues of common interest.

In his first words to the press, Abdollahian emphasized that ‘the Islamic Republic of Iran sees nothing but goodness, honesty and development for Lebanon.’

He expressed his intention to urge the various parties in Lebanon to reach understandings in order to elect the new president of the Republic.

The Iranian foreign minister commented that during talks with Saudi officials he heard positive and constructive statements from them regarding the support for Lebanon.

Incidentally, he called on all countries to cooperate and help the Lebanese people; and in this regard, he reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s readiness to maintain its solidarity.

This is Abdollahian’s third visit to Lebanon this year, following his travels in January and April, during which he reiterated Iran’s willingness to cooperate in the fields of economy, trade and energy.
