The program here consists of a visit to Cabildo de Santa Teresa and the presentation of the group Araoko, in addition to a stop at the Castle of San Severino, where the AfroCuba Group will perform.
There will also be a workshop and dance at the headquarters of the popular group Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, as well as children’s and amateur projects, rumba promoters and rumba culture, which has been declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
The closing ceremony of the 15th Timbalaye Festival will be held at Plaza de la Vigía or Callejón de las Tradiciones, where Los Muñequitos de Matanzas and AfroCuba will perform.
Since August 20, the event has toured ten Cuban provinces on days dedicated to musical instruments as an integral part of the essence of the cultural identity of the people, specifically to the Batá drums, which are proof of the African legacy.
This heritage, which is present in many Latin American nations, had its expression in performances by musicians from Cuba, Mexico, and for the first time Brazil, with artists from the Brazilian region of Salvador de Bahia.
