The day before, Gabonese military forces announced the annulment of the presidential elections of August 26th in which Ali Bongo Ondimba won for the third time.
In a message broadcast on National Television, the military confirmed the seizure of power by the Defense and Security Forces, gathered in a so-called Committee for the Transition and the Restoration of Institutions.
They also informed the annulment of the general elections -which had already generated controversy with opposition sectors- and the house arrest of the President accompanied by his family and doctors.
