The Minister of Rural Development and Land, Remmy González, confirmed that he visited on Wednesday the industrial plant of La Fortuna and the Semear processing plant, in the north of the department of Santa Cruz.
According to González, the technicians evaluated the application of sanitary procedures in terms of weed management, use of agrochemicals, good agricultural practices, manufacturing and food safety.
The Chinese experts also audited the Weed Laboratory of the National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Innovation, regarding the technical knowledge of its human resources and the system and methodology applied in the processing of the samples.
González explained that the visitors will remain in Santa Cruz until September 3rd with the objective of inspecting fields in the municipalities of San Pedro and Cuatro Cañadas, and industrial plants in Pailón, so as to verify international food collection standards.
He stressed that the program provides for the preparation and review of export protocols and the corresponding phytosanitary certificates.
According to the Bolivian authorities, they hope to conclude all the administrative processes required before December 2023 so as to be able to export the seed, which is considered a superfood, whose main destination is Mexico, with a volume of 2,908 tons, which represents an income of 8,099,262 dollars annually.
Bolivia is currently the second world producer of this food, with an annual production of 15 thousand tons.
