Syrian and Iranian FMs condemn U.S. occupation and threats

Damascus, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Mekdad and his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdullahian expressed on Wednesday their strong condemnation of the U.S. military escalation and its flagrant occupation of Syrian regions.

The purpose of concentrating U.S. military forces on the Iraqi border with Syria is to pressure Syria to change its principled stances, but Washington will not succeed, Syrian FM said during a joint press conference with Abdullahian, held at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in this capital.

Faisal Al-Mekdad added that Baghdad confirmed to Damascus that it will not allow aggression to be launched from its territory. “We support this stance of our neighbors and neither the United States nor its Coalition will succeed in negatively influencing Syrian-Iraqi relations,” he added.

In turn, Iranian Foreign Minister pointed out that the United States should stop harming the regional peoples. We advise the U.S. soldiers to return to where they came from and assure that no one can block the roads connecting the regional countries, referring to the threats to cut the road between Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.
