In a keynote speech on her participation in the recent summit in Johannesburg of the organization formed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, Hasina rejected the opposition’s criticism for the non-inclusion of Bangladesh in the group at the last meeting, Bdnews.24 reported.
According to them, we are gaining nothing, and they are wrong; we are gaining respect in the international scenario, the prime minister told reporters.
She also described her participation in the summit in South Africa as fruitful for her country, stressing that there are opportunities in the BRICS Group, which this year expanded its membership with Argentina, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Egypt, and Iran.
While attending the BRICS meeting, Hasina condemned the use of international standards and principles as a weapon and paid attention to attempts to divide the Global South nations.
We must stop the cycle of sanctions and counter-sanctions and speak out against all threats, provocations, and war, she noted at the special event of BRICS-Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogues in South Africa.
