The priority is setting mechanisms and technological systems in place that help facilitate the businesses involved in the sector, the Minister of Transportation Ricardo D’Abreu said, and stressed other actions such as the implementation of Phase II of the Unique Port Window in the Port of Namibe.
The Minister explained that the country is currently undertaking actions to create an integrated platform of all important matters in the exports and trade sector from the point of departure all the way to the point of arrival.
He added that investments will be made into upgrading transportation capabilities with the goal of materializing the project of the development of the Bay of Moçâmedes, which includes a mining terminal, and extending the pier at the Commercial Port.
In addition to the rail sector, there are joint initiatives with the prívate sector into infrastructure, maintenance and workshops. Bidding for the concession of the Moçâmedes Southern Rail Corridor is also being prepared.
Angola has 36 out of 51 minerals considered the most critical of the world, hence the great potential offered by the sector.
Chrome, cobalt, copper, graphite, iron mineral, lead, lithium, manganese, neodymium, praseodymium, nickel, silver, titanium, and zinc are just some of the minerals.
