The presence of the high-ranking military officer until next Saturday marks an important milestone in the long-standing relationship between the Armed Forces of the two States, the Ministry of Defense highlighted in a press release.
As a first activity, Ribeiro Paiva laid a wreath at the National War Memorial in homage to those who died in the Indian Armed Forces.
After being received by a ceremonial Guard of Honor, the visitor talked with the Chief of Staff of the Indian Army.
The military exchanged ideas and held constructive discussions on several contemporary issues and others related to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, the official text said.
With the same objective, Riveiro Paiva was later received by General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the General Staff, and Giridhar Aramane, Secretary of Defense.
Likewise, the Brazilian general exchanged ideas and knowledge with senior officers at the Army Headquarters, which showed the mutual growth and shared excellence in the best military practices, said the military body.
In subsequent days, Ribeiro Paiva will witness the maneuvers and firing of several weapons platforms at the Pokaran firing ranges, according to his schedule.
This visit not only strengthens military cooperation but also reinforces both nations’ commitment to collaborative security efforts, global peace and prosperity, the Indian Defense Ministry specified.
