Guatemala City, Aug 29 (Prensa Latina) A group of 62 healthcare workers returned home on Tuesday after four years of mission and impressive experience with the people most in need in Guatemala, including the fight against Covid-19.

In the farewell ceremony organized at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters in this capital, Ambassador Nazario Fernández evoked “Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, whose legacy of humanism, solidarity, and dignity accompanies us in every moment of our lives.”

Fernández highlighted the contribution made by the leader of the Revolution to the development of health in Cuba and in many other countries that have benefited from the work done by the professionals in white coats.

“Fidel is at the origin of this medical cooperation in Guatemala, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary on November 5,” the Cuban diplomatic representative said in this Central American country.

Most of you have stayed longer than usual; you have been at the forefront in the fight against Covid-19 and the face of other natural disasters, always with a great spirit, and the people appreciate this, he stressed.

During the emotional ceremony, collaborator Odannis Luis Quiñones, on behalf of the group, recited the poem “Mi Bandera” (My Flag) by Bonifacio Byrne, and Oscar Broche, a doctor from Villa Clara province in Cuba, explained the feelings they have found here.
