According to press reports, the stay by the Zambian specialist from the UN will conclude on September 7 and she plans to visit the capital and the Guna Yala region, where there is a significant number of albino people.
Miti-Drummond will focus her assessment on the albinos’ access to health care, education and employment, as well as on the impact of climate change.
She will also meet with various stakeholders, including government representatives, civil society, people with albinism and their representatives.
Panama’s Law 210, of April 27, 2021, established June 13 as National Albinism Awareness Day.
