Luisa González, from the Citizen Revolution (RC) movement, and Daniel Noboa, from the National Democratic Action (ADN) coalition, will have that time trying to win 4.2 million votes.
González won 33.62 percent of the votes in the first round of the elections on August 20th, and now she is focusing on social networks, posting videos with the intention of capturing the attention of the young electorate.
The RC candidate changed her appearance, looks sporty, and no longer alludes to the past in her speech, instead, she is stating that there is little left to transform fear and violence into protection and well-being. Her message is no longer confrontational, but one of union and hope.
Marcela Aguiñaga, president of RC, assured that the group would change its strategy during the campaign for the second round of the elections, and recognized certain errors in González’s presidential campaign, such as appealing to the past during the government of former president Rafael Correa (2007-2017).
Noboa, in turn, seeks to win more votes through walks and conversations with community and university leaders. In his campaign proposal, he gives messages speaking of employment, security, work and education.
Noboa recently ruled out the idea of forming an “anti-correísta coalition” and assured that he was in favor of a new project that would change the way of doing politics in Ecuador. However, he anticipated that he would intensify work in the territories to dispute votes for correísmo, even in traditional strongholds such as Manabí, where the RC may have votes guaranteed.
This Friday, the National Electoral Council (CNE) reported that the review of the final reports of the voting on August 20th ended in all the provinces of the country, and the results of the elections of the presidential candidates and vice president are already in, as well as the national and provincial legislators, and will be proclaimed on September 23rd, while the second round of the presidential elections will take place on October 15th.
