Prensa Latina learned that students, instructors and relatives are putting the finishing touches on all 448 schools, which will open on September 4.
Andrei Armas Bravo, head of Education in Sancti Spiritus, told Prensa Latina that educational materials are granted, as well as hygiene resources for students in boarding schools.
In view of the shortage of teachers at schools, senior students doing pedagogical majors will play the role of teachers under the supervision of experts in education.
Armas Bravo explained that the summer course was aimed at consolidating the knowledge of high school senior students to facilitate their access to university; thus, they studied the basic subjects to be evaluated, such as Mathematics, Spanish and Cuban History.
The official noted that different rural and city commerce facilities are selling uniforms for students who begin school, following the Ministry of Education’s strategy.
Minister of Education Naima Trujillo Barreto visited Sancti Spiritus recently, and highlighted the province’s preparations and commitments to achieving better results despite Cuba’s hardships due to the United States unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade.
The Minister called on teachers to be an example in the creation of an integral, humanistic general culture and a model of human beings, distinguished by knowledge and values.
