“The conference will be held from Monday to September 1 at the university campus,” organizers told Prensa Latina, adding that scientific computing tools play a major role in natural sciences and engineering. Computer algebra systems and the underlying algorithms for symbolic computation are gaining relevance nowadays, they noted.
The Computer Algebra and Symbolic Computing Conference has been running for over two decades to boost the interaction of these issues, their implementation and application.
The Aula Magna at the University of Havana will host the opening of the scientific event, and participants will include Ilias Kotsireas, from Wilfrid Laurier University of Canada; Timur M. Sadykov, from the Russian University of Economics Plekhanov; Chenqi Mou,from Beihang University of China, among others.
Cuba will be represented by Marian Hernandez, Ph.D. and first vice rector of the University of Havana, and Wilfredo Morales, dean of the School of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Havana.
The meeting’s topics cover the theory of symbolic calculus and its application in computer algebra systems, the areas of scientific computing as they relate to the benefit or use of computer algebra methods and software, as well as applications in natural sciences and engineering.
