Brazilian President begins official visit to Angola

Angola-Llegada-Lula
Luanda, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, begins an official visit to Angola, in which at least 11 cooperation agreements are expected to be signed.

Sectors such as agriculture, health, inclusive education, transportation, processing and transfer of public administration data and the creation of small and medium enterprises are some of those included in the agreements to be signed by both parties.

According to the Brazilian ambassador in Luanda, Rafael de Mello Vidal, the president of the South American nation will participate, together with his Angolan counterpart, in the launching of the program for the development of the Cunene Valley.

He will also attend an economic and business forum that should bring together around 500 businessmen and women, 170 of them Brazilians accompanying the presidential delegation.

One of the important elements in the dialogue agenda during Lula’s stay in Angola is the issue of the installation of a general consulate to meet the demand for visas for his country, which has grown by 760% in the last three years.

About 27 thousand Brazilians currently live in this African nation, the largest community on the continent, hence the importance that the two countries attach to the issue.

Other matters to be discussed will be the construction of shipyards, exportation of ships and the training of Angolan military personnel to participate in United Nations missions.

According to the Brazilian ambassador, the visit is also an opportunity to renew the strategic partnership agreement between the two nations, signed in 2010, and to resume the Brazil-Angola parliamentary friendship group.

Lula, who is accompanied by 11 Brazilian deputies, will be received at the National Assembly in a special plenary session on the occasion of the visit.
