Such revelation appeared in the portal G1 after the seizure of the cell phone of Mauro Cid, former aide of orders of former president Jair Bolsonaro, by the Federal Police (PF).
Cruz was in the group that, among others, had Cid as a member. Last week, journalist Cesar Tralli anticipated on GloboNews television that this suspicion was floating around.
Once the information was discovered, the PF took the case to the Planalto Palace, seat of the Executive Power, which ordered the dismissal of the officer, subordinated to the Institutional Security Cabinet (GSI). According to members of the government, Cruz worked in Lula’s direct security and even participated in recent trips with the ruler, such as the one to Belgium.
The site assures that the discovery of Cruz’s presence in the coup WhatsApp group disturbed the war of mistrust behind the scenes of the PF and the GSI.
The police have been advocating, since last year, that presidential security be done by law enforcement.
Behind the scenes, the GSI treats the episode involving Cruz as another chapter in this fight.
Members of the cabinet affirm that the lieutenant colonel cannot be judged for integrating the group without knowing if there was interaction or active participation of him in the conversations.
The PF qualifies as serious and worrisome the fact that a security guard in charge of protecting the life of the President of the Republic is part of a group created to carry out a coup d’état.
In fact, investigators have the information that the lieutenant colonel would have asked Cid for help in order to obtain a relocation from Bahia to Brasilia, which, in fact, happened.
GSI Minister, General Marcos Antonio Amaro, confirmed to G1 the departure of Cruz from the presidential security and assured that it is an exoneration, not a resignation.
He also said he was unaware of the existence of a PF report indicating that Cruz was in a coup group.
Amaro also communicated that the GSI plans a restructuring in the body which should be published next week.
