FMC-63-768x577
Havana, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Women´s Federation (FMC), with more than four million members, is celebrating its 63rd anniversary on Wednesday, focused on developing policies to achieve women's equality in all areas of society.

The Federation celebrates this new anniversary with recreational and cultural activities in the country’s communities, and one of the essential activities is the 11th Congress of the organization, whose balances in delegations and blocs are still being developed nationwide.

FMC Secretary General Teresa Amarelle said at a press briefing recently, that the debates in preparation for the conclave focus on improving the organization’s work and strengthening the leadership of its young members.

Amarelle stressed that the 63 years of the FMC talks about a unified organization that pays tribute to its leading architects: the historic leader Fidel Castro and heroine Vilma Espín Guillois, who was its founder and secretary.

The official also highlighted the work done by the FMC members, the State, and the Government in implementing the National Program for the Advancement of Women (PAM), which allows, in two years, building 115 children’s homes, creating jobs and joining female population in non-traditional occupations.

Founded on August 23, 1960, the Federation offered Cuban women a space to discuss their concerns and participate in the social, economic, and political changes.
