From the Palace of the Revolution, Valdés, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), told the visitor that the relations between the two nations are exceptional, with true friendship and brotherhood, and much fraternity.
The Cuba official added that the diplomatic relations are based on the actions by the historic leaders of both countries, Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh, and currently have continuity at the highest political level.
According to a detailed statement in the Cuban Presidency´s Website, Valdés expressed to Nguyen Trong Nghia, his satisfaction for receiving him on his first visit to Cuba, and he conveyed to Trong the greetings from the highest leadership of his country’s government.
Nguyen Trong Nghia, in turn, described his stay in Cuba as fruitful, as it includes a tribute to Fidel Castro and to the National Hero José Martí, apart from meetings with PCC leaders and representatives of the National People’s Power Assembly.
Cuba and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on December 1960. Vietnam established its first embassy in Havana in 1961, and Cuba set up its first diplomatic mission in Hanoi in July 1962.
