Venezuelan president denounces new destabilization attempts

Maduro
Caracas, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced new destabilization plans against the nation by right-wing sectors, and assured that the government will watch over the tranquility of the citizens.

In this way, he ordered on Monday the activation of the so-called Peace Squads throughout the national territory to guarantee that “fascism does not impose the agenda of violence in the country”.

The President made reference to the statements made by the former Mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma, who from abroad made a call for military intervention and a new coup d’état against the Bolivarian government.

According to his comments, the words of Ledezma, a fugitive from justice and with an arrest and extradition warrant ordered by the Attorney General’s Office, reveal his attempts to call for civil disobedience and corresponds to the modus operandi previously adopted by the right wing.

“I have given the order to activate the peace squads. Peace squads, alert, to the streets, activated, to guarantee peace throughout the country”, expressed the president in his program “Con Maduro +”.

He then referred to the mobilization of more than four million militia men and women in the anti-coup plan to guarantee the tranquility of the citizens.

He also called on the Venezuelan people to defend peace, sovereignty and internal unity.

The head of state endorsed the actions of the Attorney General’s Office, which immediately acted through its highest authority, Tarek William Saab, by ordering the international arrest of Ledezma.

“He acted fast, on time, and we must accompany the institutions so that Venezuela gets justice. Fascism and the coup cannot be allowed to fill the country with sterile violence. It cannot be allowed”, he affirmed.

The ruler recalled how the instigation of violence against the Bolivarian revolution began in 2002 with the failed coup against the late leader Hugo Chávez (1954-2013), which was followed by other destabilizing attempts in 2004, in 2014, and in 2017.

Maduro called on Venezuelans to disregard calls for hatred and “coup d’etat” that certain groupings are trying to resume.”

“Let’s go with the Peace Squads, alert and activated to guarantee the peace of the country,” he sentenced.
