During a special session on Monday evening in salute to the 44th anniversary of the Nicaraguan Armed Forces to be commemorated on September 2, Porras indicated that the combination of people, Army and unity is a guarantee of stability, sovereignty and self-determination.

Resolution 4-2023, which the Legislative Power passed, grants recognition to the Nicaraguan armed institution as the faithful successor of the Army Defender of National Sovereignty.

As part of the political-cultural activity, the Commander-in-Chief of the Nicaraguan Army, Julio César Avilés, received a picture with the image of the General of Free Men Augusto C. Sandino.

On his part, Avilés thanked parliamentarians for the recognition and affirmed that his people build their own destiny by actively participating in the decision-making process, and “from the participatory democracy is the builder of a free, dignified, just and prosperous homeland”.

“All the members of the Army are fully aware that we come from the people and belong to them, that is why we say that we are the same people in uniform, working for their own benefit,” he emphasized.
