Anelli pointed out that it is undoubtedly a high figure for this difficult economic period, but he noted that it is possible to get that money with good multi-year planning, and added that in view of the budget, it is necessary to reaffirm the concept that investing in health care is not about losing money but earning it in the long run.
In this regard, in early August, Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci submitted an urgent request to Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti for an additional four billion euros for the healthcare system.
These funds, Schillaci claimed, would be used to address the delicate problem of human resources, the future of which is in danger of being jeopardized if decisive actions are not taken.
A substantial part of this money would be earmarked for incentives for medical personnel, with the aim of making the National Healthcare Service more attractive and retaining professionals, who are fleeing to other countries or other sectors.
