Santo Domingo, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Labor of the Dominican Republic, Luis Miguel de Camps, informed that Tuesday and Wednesday were declared non-working days, due to the imminent passage of tropical storm Franklin.

This was announced on Monday by De Camps during a press conference, in which he also said that the Ministry of Public Administration must issue the resolutions in this regard as the regulator of labor in public entities.

The measure will be in force as from noon Tuesday, according to the governmental disposition, due to the weather emergency.

He also urged employers to comply with the prevention measures established by the Emergency Operations Center (COE).

The National Meteorological Office reported this Monday that the tropical storm found favorable ocean temperatures for its strengthening.

It said that the outer bands will begin to impact the national territory from the end of Monday, although it will not be until Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning that the center will make landfall due to its slow speed of translation.

According to the Office, the storm was at 20:00, local time, about 390 kilometers south of the province of Santo Domingo, while the trajectory models predict that it will turn north on Tuesday and continue in that direction until Wednesday.

It also alerted the population that heavy rains associated with Franklin may cause flash and urban flooding, as well as river crossings and landslides.
