Cuban province evaluates start of 2023-2024 school year

Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Education Minister Naima Trujillo evaluated the preparations for the start of the 2023-2024 school year on September 4, with teachers, officials and directors of the sector in this central province

On Monday, the head of the sector and a team of specialists began a tour to the country’s different provinces in this territory in order to verify guarantees, means, resources and preparation of teachers in order to assure a quality educational process.

Trujillo highlighted the willingness of the people of Sancti Spiritus to give their best during the school calendar, even in the midst of the difficult economical situation caused by the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States. i

The essential characteristic of the current school year, she explained, is that it is the first one after the pandemic stage and will last 46 weeks.

Andrei Armas, Director of Education, explained the steps taken to ensure that the 448 educational centers begin their activities on the proposed date, as well as the measures adopted to make up for the deficit of teachers and professors.

He assured that students in the last year of their pedagogical careers will arrive to the classrooms to compensate the lack of teachers; the subjects with the greatest shortage are Mathematics, Physics, Spanish and Literature, and Cuban History.

It was reported that the 67,130 students of the territory have the necessary study material, school hygiene resources and supplies for the education personnel.
