In a statement to which Prensa Latina had access, the political force that proposes a project of social inclusion and citizen security, denounced failures in the telematic voting system that made it impossible for more than 50 thousand Ecuadorians registered in Europe, Asia and Oceania to vote the day before.
Seventy percent of the compatriots registered in Europe were left without voting in the elections, it warned.
According to the representation of RC5 in the so-called old continent, the National Electoral Council (CNE) showed indolence and lied when assuring that everything was going well in the appointment at the polls to elect the president and assembly members.
“This August 20, Diana Atamaint, president of the CNE, declared on several occasions that everything was running normally, while thousands of Ecuadorians felt that their rights to vote and to return peace to Ecuador was violated,” she stressed.
In this sense, the representative of the RC5 insisted that the process did not have the necessary guarantees for the exercise of the constitutional rights for those living outside the country.
RC5 Europe shared with Prensa Latina images of telephones and computers with error messages from people who tried unsuccessfully to vote online -the only possible way- in the elections.
Ecuadorians will have a runoff election on October 15 between Luisa Gonzalez, of RC5, and Daniel Noboa, of the National Democratic Action alliance.
