Citizens’ Revolution to be largest force in Ecuador’s Congress

Quito, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The Citizens' Revolution Movement will be the eminent political force elected this Sunday to form Ecuador's new National Assembly, according to data released by the National Electoral Council (CNE) on Monday.

According to the CNE’s official results, the Citizens’ Revolution Movement won 39.37 percent of the vote, followed by the Construye Movement (20.66 percent), the National Democratic Action (14.67 percent), and the Social Christian Party (11.83 percent).

We have reached 57 assembly members, which would form the Citizens’ Revolution bloc in the unicameral Parliament,” candidate Pierina Correa told Teleamazonas.

Correa insisted that not all votes had been counted, as the process to identify possible voting irregularities was still underway.

Regarding the vote abroad, she assured that the candidates of the migrant constituency are asking for a re-run of the elections because they have suffered a severe violation of their rights.

Ecuadorians will return to the polls on October 15 to elect the president in a run-off election between Luisa González and Daniel Noboa.
