The event, held last Thursday in Luanda, left a roadmap that includes actions in the economic, social and health sectors, in addition to continuing support for the fight for peace in the conflict regions of Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The establishment of the month of October as the deadline for the entry into operation of the SADC Emergency Humanitarian Operations Center, based in Mozambique, stands out among the relevant aspects.
According to the dispatch derived from the Summit, the member states were urged to accelerate the national processes for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the subject, in order to allow the entry into force of a space that guarantees concerted and coordinated action before natural disasters.
The SADC Declaration on swift actions to end AIDS in the region by 2030, one of the main threats to public health in these countries, was also approved and signed during the Summit.
The 43rd SADC Summit also supported the Regional Gas Master Plan for 2023-2038 as an infrastructure investment program aimed at facilitating the coordinated use of natural gas resources in the region, and indicated that progress in its application would be announced every two years.
In addition, the Community approved and signed the Protocol on Employment and Labor which, among other things, defines a strategic framework for regional cooperation on the matter.
