The Foreign Ministry made these statements just when the United States, together with Japan and South Korea, is holding a trilateral summit in North American territory, which, analysts say, seeks to contain China in the first place.
Wang Wenbin, Foreign Ministry spokesman, stressed that the Asia-Pacific region “is an anchor for peaceful development and a promising land for cooperation and development, not a stage for geopolitical competition”.
Furthermore, he rejected bloc confrontation which, in his opinion, will inevitably result in vigilance and opposition from nations in this geographic area.
“No country should seek its own security at expense of the security interests of other countries and jeopardize regional peace and stability. It is up to the international community to determine who is stirring confrontation and fuelling tensions,” he stressed.
