Putin discussed international cooperation with Iranian president

Moscow, Aug 17 (Prensa Latina) Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Ebrahim Raisi, during which he discussed issues of international cooperation in light of Tehran's interest in joining the Brics, the Kremlin reported. "Issues of expanding cooperation in international and regional affairs were discussed, including Iran's participation as a full member in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as interest in joining Brics activities," the report reads.

It further notes that during the conversation the leaders confirmed their intention to further develop cooperation in the areas of trade, energy, transport, logistics and environment.

Finally, both sides “expressed their satisfaction with the high level reached in Russian-Iranian relations,” the Kremlin concluded.
