At the inauguration of the First World Summit for Traditional Medicine, which began today in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Ghebreyesus called for the drafting of a final declaration to help unleash the power of ancestral practices through science.
The WHO director general, in addition to pointing out the interrelationship between traditional medicines and the environment, underscored how science has drawn on ancestral knowledge and bases for the development of cancer remedies, he said.
He highlighted India’s initiatives to improve healthcare services in the country, such as the adoption of telemedicine, a project that makes it possible to expand the provision of services, in addition to saving the patients’ time and money.
