Lula affirmed that Brazil returned to pay attention to women

Brasilia, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva affirmed today that Brazil returned to pay attention to rural women, while speaking at the seventh edition of the so-called March of the Daisies held here.

Official sources indicated that more than 100 thousand women gathered in Brasilia completed a march this Wednesday to the National Congress, for the reconstruction of the country.

From the weekend until Tuesday, hundreds of buses arrived at the City Park Pavilion, bringing the participants of the march, coordinated by the National Confederation of Rural Workers Farmers and Family Farmers (Contag), affiliated federations and unions, and 16 partner organizations.

“When you were walking under the sun of that Esplanade (of the Ministries), in 2019, in the last march, I was imprisoned in Curitiba, victim of persecution by those who want to prevent Brazil from changing,” Lula assured.

He recalled that he was distant, “but I heard your cry for justice, I heard when you repeated so many times the cry Lula Free”.

He alluded to a letter sent to that march, in which he reaffirmed the commitment to build a better country, “more affectionate with women and more generous with the poorest”.

A Brazil, he said, “in which everyone can have breakfast, lunch and dinner every day” and “in which children and young people have the opportunity to study”.

Furthermore, “a country made by the hands of women like you, daisies, who organize and fight for the dream of a better tomorrow,” he said.

He praised the women who came from so many corners of the South American giant and the world, who traveled kilometers and long hours to add their voice to this cry of hope.

“You are a fundamental part of this Brazil that is returning to democracy, social justice and the search for the good life”, he stressed.

For the former labor leader, it is necessary to “create a culture of respect in the countryside and in the cities. We no longer tolerate discrimination, misogyny and gender violence”.
