The Center for Support and Emergency Medicine announced on Facebook that 234 families were evacuated as a result of the engagements.
The firefight broke out after the decision of members of the Dissuasion Special Forces to arrest the commander of the 444 Brigade, Mahmoud Hamza, at the Maitika Airport as he was headed to the city of Misurata to attend a graduation ceremony.
The Akhbar Libya 24 news site reported that the Dissuasion Special Forces and the 444 Brigade agreed on a ceasefire last night after engaging in battle in a number of neighborhoods in Tripoli since Monday.
A dispatch from the municipality announced the agreement between the groups, the return of all units to their bases of operations and the delivery of Hamza to a neutral party.
During the clashes, the UN Support Mission in Libya expressed concern over the situation and its impact on the civilians and called to address differences through dialogue.
Regional TV networks showed images of numerous unidentified militias in the streets along with armed vehicles, damaged buildings in the city, and numerous cars set on fire.
