Ahmed Abu Zaid, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, said that the cooperation mechanism constitutes an important platform in terms of joint efforts designed to strengthen economic ties among the three countries in a number of fields.
Regional and international matters of common interest were approached during the meeting with the aim of preserving Arab unity and maintaining security and stability in the region. The meeting also represented an opportunity to follow up on projects of cooperation and strategic integration among the three countries, the spokesman said.
The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Iraq and Jordan held their contact outside a meeting of a working committee on Syria, seeking to find a negotiated solution to the crisis in the country.
