China-South Asia Expo promotes opportunities for common development

Beijing, Aug 16 (Prensa Latina) Representatives and guests from 85 countries and regions are participating in the 7th China-South Asia Expo, which kicks off in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, on Wednesday, under the theme "Solidarity and Coordination for Common Development."

It is a significant platform for multilateral diplomacy, economic and trade cooperation, and cultural exchanges between China and South and Southeast Asian countries.

Talks with these neighboring nations are a priority for Beijing, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the presence of Wang Yi, head of Chinese diplomacy, at the official opening of the Expo.

The five-day Expo covers 15 exhibition halls, including pavilions dedicated to South Asia, resource-based economy, and port economy.

The face-to-face and virtual event will feature cooperation forums, business and think tanks, and a keynote speech on technology transfer and innovation.

According to official data, the first such Expo took place in 2013, the same year in which President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative.
