According to official figures of the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (MITRADEL), currently 30% of youngsters, about 100,000, are unemployed.
The study further pointed out that some of them remain in the informal sector and others without any formal job. That statistic exceeds 21% of the economically active population.
The forum “Youth and 21st Century Jobs, Managers of Entrepreneurial Transformation” organized by MITRADEL in this capital showed that the youth’s main obstacle is the stigma they are not capable of performing a job due to lack of experience.
According to the Director of Employment Alfredo Mitre, at least 72% of employers prioritize the resume over academic training when choosing a talent.
During the exchange, MITRADEL signed three MOUs with the University of Santander, the Ibero-American University of Panama and the Creative Gaps Foundation, aiming at promoting research on these issues of great popular interest.
