“I would like to congratulate President Lula for his leadership in bringing together the eight countries of the Amazon region,” Boluarte said at the opening ceremony of the Technical Mission of Sustainable Schools Peru on Monday.

She added that the Amazon countries “are no longer the lungs of the world, we are life itself.”

Boluarte stated that in order to preserve the future of humanity, it is important to combat indiscriminate logging, river pollution and other activities that damage the environment.

“If we take care of our Amazon, if we do not continue to cut down more trees, if we do not continue to pollute our rivers, our Amazon, we will have the human species for a long time,” she said.
