Pita advanced that, according to the current electoral calendar, people deprived of liberty would vote on August 17.
In Ecuador´s 39 prisons, voting is coordinated by the National Service of Integral Attention to Persons Deprived of Liberty (SNAI), the CNE, the Armed Forces and the National Police, so for such a reason 62 voting boards (JRV) will be available, he said.
The process in penitentiaries will take place amid prison crisis, which has generated insecurity and violence.
Meanwhile, the CNE explained that the Voto en Casa is scheduled for August 18. On that day, about 587 people over 50 years of age or with physical disabilities, will receive CNE delegates at home to vote.
According to the institution, once the Juntas Receptoras del Voto (voting boards, JRV) have received and checked contents of the electoral package, ballot box and screen by the Armed Forces, they proceed to carry out the circuit of visits to the homes, previously planned by each Provincial Electoral Delegation, the CNE pointed out.
Past Thursday, CNE´s President Diana Atamaint assured that the early elections will be held next August 20 in spite of the assassination of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio.
