The unrest was joined by inmates from “Penitenciaria del Litoral” jail and the regional prison, where Jose Adolfo Macias alias Fito had been held.

According to local media, the inmates climbed the roofs of the penitentiary to join the demands.

After those protests, the National Police mobilized around 400 agents who arrived at the regional penitentiary complex to contain the motorists who refused to leave, and continued to loiter on the road to Daule, in Guayaquil.
