On Sunday, in a message to the nation, Abinader expressed last night his aspiration to be the candidate of the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and argued the challenges still to be met by maintaining a “policy of honesty”.

The dignitary said that after a deep reflection, he understood that the country is above his family or personal tranquility.

During a speech of just over two minutes, he mentioned several achievements during his administration and recalled the scenario that existed in the country three years ago: “Deserted streets, closed businesses, and everyone confined at home; there was uncertainty, but in the face of every challenge we maintained a firm will and our hope never faded”.

The president referred to his determination to work tirelessly to obtain vaccines against Covid-19 when almost no country could get them, to reopen tourism and to reactivate economic growth, which allowed, he said, the recovery of lost jobs.

He also pointed out that during his mandate, works have been built “in all the communities”, property titles and houses have been handed over, public transportation has been improved, while Dominicans have guaranteed health insurance and we defend our sovereignty.

After calling for continuity and the power of honesty, he affirmed: “I want us to continue building on the achievements we have reached together, working with the same enthusiasm and intensity as always. Let us continue to believe in the power of honesty,” concluded the President.
