The Ministry revealed that the Sukru Okan freighter, which is sailing under Palau flag and bound for Izmail, in Ukraine, did not respond to the stop order given to it from the Vasily Bykov corvette, one of Russia’s ships carrying out patrol missions in the southwestern Black Sea.
Sailors fired warning shots with light automatic weapons in this context to make the ship stop, and sent a group of servicemen in a Ka-29 helicopter on board the Vasily Bykov to make an inspection.
“After communicating by radio, the cargo ship stopped and the group of inspectors boarded it. After the completion of inspection, the ship pursued its course for Izmail,” Defense Ministry added.
