On Friday, 2 days before Fidel´s 97th birth anniversary, members of the Argentine Solidarity Movement, Cubans living in this South American country and activists from several groups recalled the Commander-in-Chief at a ceremony.
Among participants in the event was Dr. Aleida Guevara, daughter of the guerrilla Ernesto Guevara.
We must try by all means to guarantee these marvelous men continue to live with us and reflect this through concrete actions. I had the privilege of being close to Fidel and I loved and respected him so bad, she said.
One thinks that people like them are eternal. His death was so hard because it was the second time I lost a father. I talk about my father a lot, but I still find it hard to talk about him (Fidel), she added.
Alaida also thanked the Argentine people for their support to Cuba in the most difficult moments and invited them to strengthen unity to face current challenges.
On the other hand, she described the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for over 60 years as criminal and cruel.
