The Alliance for Risk Management and Continuity of Activities interviewed citizens to find out their perception of the evolution of the security situation in the country, as well as their feelings about possible foreign support for the National Police.
The results showed that 66 percent of respondents consider that the security situation deteriorated from January to July 2023, while 68 another percent agree that the police need the support of an international force immediately to restore security in the country.
The survey took into account the opinion of 1,387 adults from a sample of 5,000. Some 56 percent expressed a lack of confidence in the police, while 75 percent noted that in order to restore security and deter armed gangs, the police need the support of the Haitian Armed Forces.
The results are very similar to a study conducted in February by the Diagnostic Development Group, which found that 69 percent of Haitians would favor the deployment of an international force to combat gangs.
