The exhibition, which opens on Friday afternoon, shows Ecuadorian painter Oswaldo Guayasamin’s last oil painting portrait dedicated to Fidel, along with snapshots that reveal his hands-words, hands-dreams, and hands-people.
Artists like Alberto Korda, Raul Corrales, Osvaldo Salas, Roberto Salas, Liborio Noval, Raul Abreu, Ismael Francisco, Roberto Chile, and Alex Castro have captured moments in the life of the Commander-in-Chief.
In these brief moments, the expressive hands of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution talk with the world and change it forever, sometimes from action, others from restless silence.
The pictures tell the story of his struggle from the early years of the Revolution to his last days.
At the proposal of Memorial Director Enith Alerm and Roberto Chile, the tribute to Fidel’s 97th birthday was organized in collaboration with Genesis Galleries, designer Ernesto Niebla, and other institutions and prominent figures of Cuban culture.
Katiuska Blanco, a researcher, journalist, and writer who has devoted to studying Fidel’s life, is in charge of the opening speech at the exhibition.
